September is Dental Infection Control Awareness Month (DICAM)
Nebraska ICAP offers complimentary on-site dental infection prevention and control assessments.
These assessments typically take about 1 to 2 hours, though we can tailor the visit to fit your schedule and facility needs. We usually begin with a discussion of your current infection prevention policies, procedures, and program activities.
This is followed by a walk-through of the facility to review practices such as:
• Hand hygiene
• Personal protective equipment (PPE) use
• Supply storage
• Sterilization process
• Safe injection preparation and handling
• Other infection prevention practices relevant to your setting
Members of your leadership team and staff are welcome to participate throughout the assessment.
What to Expect
ICAP operates in a non-regulatory capacity and provides peer-to-peer infection prevention assessments focused on program improvement.
These visits are intended to be collaborative discussions that highlight strengths, identify opportunities for improvement, and support ongoing quality and patient safety efforts.
Many facilities find these assessments particularly valuable when preparing for surveys, validating current practices, and identifying opportunities to strengthen their infection prevention programs. Following the visit, you will receive a written summary report that may be used for documentation, education, and quality improvement efforts. ICAP assessments are confidential and educational in nature. Findings are shared only with your facility and are intended to support quality improvement efforts.
